Velaiilla Pattadhari 2, a sequel to the 2014 blockbuster film Velaiilla Pattadhari was the second film to be directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth. The film was shot simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi with the latter titled Lalkar. Dhanush, Amala Paul, Vivek, Hrishikesh, Saranya Ponvannan, and Samuthirakani reprised their roles, while Kajol played an antagonistic role in her second Tamil film after 1997’s Minsara Kanavu.
