Soundarya Rajinikanth
Soundarya Rajinikanth is the daughter of Shri. Rajinikanth whose name is synonymous with superstardom and glory stands as an icon culturally and globally. He was recently conferred with the title of Padma Vibhushan as well. Having grown up in a much-celebrated household, Soundarya exhibited her creative skills at a much early age, winning numerous awards for fine arts and creative contests. She was schooled at The Ashram group of institutions founded by Smt. Latha Rajinikanth, her mother. She later finished her higher studies in Australia. She then began “Kochadaiiyaan” India’s first photorealistic animated feature film to immortalize her father. She dedicated three years to open an industry in animation to make “Kochadaiiyaan” a reality despite stringent budgets, huge limitations, and little facilities. “Kochadaiiyaan” will remain a first of its kind in many ways. India’s first photorealistic motion capture film made with the biggest actor in the country, Superstar Rajinikanth, Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff, Nasser, and many more veterans. The music was scored by Oscar winner A.R.Rahman and Sound designed by Oscar winner Resul Pookutty.
Noah - Creative Director
Noah was born and raised in Trichy, a culturally rich agricultural city in Tamil Nadu. As a kid, he grew up listening to the countless World War II stories said by his repatriate grandmother from Burma. He moved to Chennai to pursue a law degree and worked as a research and business consultant for a decade before finding his true calling and home in films. He began his journey in Cinema as a Creative Associate and Dialogue Writer in the indie hit ‘Vidiyum Munn.’ He also served as the Co-Director and Associate Director on ‘Yaagavarayinum Naa Kaaka’ and ’VIP 2’ respectively. His last outing as a creative producer includes the smash hit “Oh My Kadavule.”Currently, Noah is gearing up to direct his debut film and original series, and as a Creative Producer, managing some premium projects for the top OTT players in India. Influenced by the works of Satyajit Ray, Martin Scorsese, and Andrei Tarkovsky, Noah is a thinker, writer, director, and creative producer, who understands the complexities of Film both as a business and as an art form and aspires to raise the standards of Indian Cinema at both fronts.
Tamil Praba - Writer
Tamil Praba, is an acclaimed novelist.His novel ‘Paettai’ is highly celebrated and has been one of the top-sellers in the Chennai Book Fair since the year it was published. The well-received ‘Paettai’, has been winning accolades not just in Chennai but also among the Tamil speaking population across countries. Through his novel, Tamil Praba, being a resident of Chennai eloquently traces the lifestyle and dynamics of old Madras.‘Paettai’ has also won the prestigious ‘Writer Sujatha’ and ‘ Best Work on the lives of the marginalized section’ awards. Known for his propensity in articulation, Tamil Praba has worked as co-screenplay writer and dialogue writer in director Ranjith’s Sarpatta Parambarai.Tamil Praba is also a journalist in the renowned weekly Ananda Vikatan. His cover stories on various social issues have brought him great acknowledgements.
He is highly lauded for the 25 weeks series ‘Theivathaan Agaathenum’ he wrote as a columnist. He has also made two documentaries.
Deepthi Govindarajan - Writer / Director
Deepthi Govindarajan was born and raised in Chennai, India. She was exposed to the works of Alfred Hitchcock and Coppola as a child, but watching Jurassic Park at age eight changed her life which is when she decided she wanted to make films as well. With a degree in Visual Communications from Loyola College, Chennai and a Post Grad. Diploma in Screenwriting from New York Film Academy in New York, Deepthi began her journey into writing. Starting with internships with The Hindu, Bangalore and with Suryagulla Photography during her Loyola years, she moved on to working with Sikelia Productions, run by Martin Scorsese after her NYFA days, before moving back to Chennai. She worked as a Writing Assistant with Dir. Rajamohan on a tamil film – Vanavarayan Vallavarayan, after which she wrote an untitled Hindi Film for A Films in Mumbai. She then assisted Director Vishnuvardhan for three years during which he made Aarambam. She worked as the Assistant Manager of the Interactive Media Dept at Real Image Media Technologies before freelancing with AR Rahman, YM Studios for a couple of years – working on the visuals for live shows as well as shooting the behind the scenes of the shows, while also directing music videos for well-known musicians and bands such as Shakthishree Gopalan, Sid Sriram, Josh Satya, Sapta etc.. on the side. She also freelanced as AD on various advertisements. She also wrote a feature for Debut Director Sundaram, July Kaatril, transitioning back into screenwriting.
Prabhu Kalidas - Writer
A renowned photographer, acclaimed author and a cinephile, Prabhu Kalidas is a popular name in the independent media and entertainment circle. While his photographs have decorated various national and international magazines including Time Journal of Photography, Asian Photography magazine and Nat Geo, his books represent the rise of the new wave in Tamizh literature. His first novel “Neeruku Adiyae Sila Kuralgal” was one of the best selling Tamizh novels of that year and a studio is already developing a feature film on the same. He followed it up with “Nadhiyin Moonravadu Karai”, a short story compilation translated form the South American literature. Known for his knowledge and exposure to world cinema, Prabhu is a household name in several panel discussions connected to Cinema and Tamizh literature.
Nirmal Pauldan Williams - Writer / Director
Born in Copenhagen and raised in Cuddalore, Nirmal, as a kid, was fascinated by action figures and the made up bedtime stories told by his father. After completing a civil engineering degree and a short stint as a research assistant in a government research centre, he decided to quit his job and pursue a career in movies which he had always wanted to do. Having little idea where to start with, he made a few short films, read a lot of books and attended filmmaking workshops. It is when he entered into screenwriting competitions like ‘AIB First Draft’ where he made it to the finals consecutively for two years and was shortlisted in a competition conducted by Jio Mami studios, he began to get opportunities to work and collaborate with other writers and directors. So far Nirmal has co-written a screenplay for a film which is under development and a few episodes for a couple of web series. He is currently co-writing his second screenplay for a feature film. His responsibility as a person who creates art is to tell good and honest stories as well as he can and to stand by what he believes in.
Merlin - Writer / Director
Merlin was born in a South Indian family. She being very ambitious and goal oriented wanted to pursue her career as Film maker. She took her first step towards fulfilling her father’s dream of becoming a successful filmmaker by coming to Chennai for her studies and she did her B.Sc Physics in Womens Christian College. She then further studied M.A. Broadcast Communication in M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai. Though she wanted to assist learn from some of the leading filmmakers in Tamil film industry, she didn’t get a break initially, but television industry was more welcoming to her. She not only got to work in the television sets, but also could do some Television anchoring roles where she did use her affable personality, she has also done many advertisements. Highlight of her Television career would be her stint as an Episode Producer for Big Boss (Vijay Tv) which was produced by Endemol. In spite of consistent success in television, she chose to quit her television production career & became an Asst Director with the Viacom 18 web series titled “18 plus” for Voot. Post that project she joined Mari Selvaraj as an Asst Director in the movie Karnan; went on to become an Associate director with the movie Thiruchitrambalam starring Dhanush.
Vinod - Writer / Director
Vinod Pillai was born in a Malayalam family in Chennai, he did his schooling from Rashtriya Military School – Bangalore, & his UG & MBA from University of Madras; while doing his MBA, he did an internship with fashion photographer Karthik Srinivas, & subsequently started working with him in fashion photoshoots, model coordination & casting for advertisements, & one of his casting assignments helped him to be in ace Ad filmmaker Babu Shankar’s sets, that’s where he found his calling, but due to various circumstances he chose to join Naukri.com, an organisation which campus recruited him, he worked with Naukri.com for 2 years in Chennai, & 3 years in Dubai, in 2011 he quit his corporate job & chose to pursue his purpose in life which was cinema, his first foray into filmmaking began with assisting A R Murugadoss’s associates A M Sampath Kumar & Anbu G in their maiden feature film titled “Iruvar Ondranaal”, & post that project, he got the opportunity to work in an independent film titled Amini, directed by Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, after these 2 films, he was recruited by P.S. Mithran (Director of Irumbu Thiriai) for an Eros Project directed by Abraham Prabu, working in that Project for over 1.5 years was a life changing event for Vinod, he gleaned a lot from Abraham Prabu & Mithran, & invested his time to master the film language & nuances of writing, once he began to focus on the writing aspect of filmmaking, many opportunities began to come his way, out of which the most prominent one would be the web series titled “AAA”, a political thriller, he was commissioned to write for 5 seasons, post this mammoth task, he had an opportunity to meet with Ms. Soundaraya Rajnikanth & began collaborating with her for her production house – May 6 Entertainment.
Mani - Writer / Director
Manikandan.B, did his Electronics and Communications Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology. His interest in film making started in college. While learning about the how’s and what’s of the craft of films, he moonlighted as a Software Engineer.
He honed the craft primarily by self-learning and practice, directing and editing short films. His short film ‘Andharangam’ garnered wide acclaim. He has worked on several writing projects with experienced filmmakers like Naga (‘Marmadesam’). He is also thae editor of ‘Kallachirippu’ (produced by Karthik Subbaraj and released on ZEE5) and ‘KK’. He aims to make films that are extremely entertaining and artistically compelling. He believes learning is a life-long process and collaboration is the key to success
